My Culture

My culture is Brazil, on new year they build little boats with materials. Four example flax, they use flax's Woods to make the masts and hulls for the boats. They use flax's leaves for string. they put offerings on the boat for the god of the ocean which is called
Iemanjá. When it is sunset they let the boats float away on top of the ocean. when the clock is on 12 they jump 7 waves for good luck.

Action World

On December 3rd me and my class went to Action World. The first thing that I went on was the water slide. I went zoom slip slide down the water slide. It was quite scary the first time but the second time it was FUN! Once I got changed I went to the Tarzan trapeze. It was scary and fun at the same time. I made it to the last one add nearly made it over the cat. When I got off the Tarzan trapeze one of the ladies that worked at Action World said I could go on the BIG trapeze (so I did). I ran to the big trapeze I had to sign my name on a board and then I waited in line. As soon as it was my turn, I climbed up the big stairs to get up high. When I was up there I grabbed the bar from the trapeze. I put my feet up and was swinging across the sky. Then I landed. But instead of landing on my bum or back i landed on my arm. I was fine but it was just sore. Then a few minutes later we went back to our seats where our bags were then we got into our lines and walked back to school.

How to Refuse, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse

Hello everyone who is reading my blog. In my class we have been doing t-shaped literacy about recycling. We are learning to know the difference between recycle, reduce, reuse and refuse. Reduce means cutting back on the amount of trash we make all through the year. Reuse means keep reusing stuff. Like for example a plastic water bottle that you buy from countdown, clean it then fill it with water and it can still be reused. the last example for refusing, Refuse means to throw it away in the rubbish if it’s not coming in handy.

Plant animation

This is my plant animation to explain how and what a plant needs to grow.
I had to read stories to learn about plants. On one of the stories that
I read it was called Gardening in the Living room. Here is some information.
Find a good place that has water, light, warmth, air and nutrients.
It's good for plants. They absorb minerals and water through their roots
and turn them into something sticky which is called zap, it is the plants blood.
It moves water and minerals around the plant where they are needed.  They
absorb energy from the sun and use it to turn the water from the soil into
carbon dioxide. (Co2) from the air into different kinds of sugars. Plants
need these sugars to grow branches, leaves, flowers and fruit and oxygen.
Sugar goes up their roots into the leaves and then they grow to a tree
flowers or they create fruit. different fruits and vegetables grow in
different spaces and times of the day. Plants can overcook just like us,
when the temperature gets too hot in the living room the plants get to
dehydrated, there are also vents on the top of the living room when they
open the hot air leaks out. The living room is cool and the plants can provide
more food.

Makerspace

Hi my name is Brisa, on Friday we did a maker space
(Making stuff) we had to be in groups of 5. In my group there was, Fern, Akira, Yazmin, Ayanda and myself. We made a delicious salad with, almonds, lettuce, strawberries, cucumbers, pears, carrots, grapes and some lemon juice and parsley for extra topping. We used parsley from our own class garden.

How plants grow and how to plant plants …
Find a good place that has water light warmth air add nutrients. (It's good for plants). They absorb minerals and water through their roots and turn them into something sticky which is called zap. Zap is the plants blood. It moves water and minerals around the plant where they are needed. Then they  absorb energy from the sun and use it to turn the water from the soil into carbon dioxide. DID YOU KNOW… Plants can overcook just like us.

Makerspace Juicies DLO

This is my DLO that I created with Fern Yazmin and myself. The experiment was called melting ice blocks. We made a project plan to try not to make them melt. Our one was 90% Frozen and 10% juice. I think it works because black attracts sun and white doesn't so then we covered our box with a whole bunch of white material.

Cross contrey

On the 30th of August Friday we went to do cross country at Bledisloe domain.
To get practice we ran around our school field and up through the netball courts 5 times except
when it was raining.
I  really improved with my running. When it was Friday we had to get transported to Bledisloe.
The races were in ages and years. When it was our race we had to run around the field then up the hill.
It was really tiring, I ran and ran also sprinted past my friends. Then I was sprinting to the finish line.
I came first place! The only thing that I thought was really hard was passing my friends and up the hill.
I was really happy.

Kids Can

On Thursday we did kids can games. We had teachers and older are seniors to be a role model. We all  had so much fun that day, and by the way we wouldn't even have that if we didn't have our amazing teachers at this school. also definitely the principal and thank you for running this school.

Adele Broadbent

Adele Broadbent talked to the senior syndicate of Paihia school to talk about her books that she made and to publish them. She also made a website which is called WHATBOOKNEXT.com of books for adults and any kind of ages. She was great and helpful with our questions. Adele Broadbent was outstanding she made all of us get out of our shells and write more. THANKS A LOT ADELE BROADBENT!!!
